Popular Melbourne french fries specialist Lord of the Fries is reportedly set to launch in Sydney, after years of campaigning by devotees in both states.

Good Food website reports that Lord of the Fries has locked in a site “at the Chinatown end of George Street”, and expects it to open in September.

Lord of the Fries began in Melbourne in 2004 as a mobile chip van offering quality vegetarian fries with a variety of sauces. Due to its rising popularity, a store was opened on the corner of Elizabeth and Flinders Streets, with the franchise expanding rapidly during recent years.

According to Lord of the Fries’ website, the business began when Mandy from Toronto and Mark from Melbourne joined forces in search of the world’s best hot chip. All fries are served with sea salt and complimentary tomato sauce is offered, however the variety of additional sauces is a highlight for many regular customers; favourites include Euro mayonnaise, Thai satay and poutain, a French Canadian favourite of cheese melted by gravy. A ‘Sauce of the month’ is also a regular feature of the menu; this month it is Pakistani lime, mint and chilli chutney.

All Lord of the Fries products are halal, vegetarian and kosher, and many products such as burgers are also vegan-friendly.
