Clouds may prevent the sighting of the new crescent moon at Jama Masjid, Delhi tonight.

The start of Ramzan has not yet been confirmed in Pakistan and India, due to the relevant authorities not sighting the new crescent moon in those countries.

The News Tribe is carrying a report that fasting for Ramzan is unlikely to begin in Pakistan on Wednesday, due to unclear weather precluding the sighting of the moon. The Ruet e Hilal (moonlighting) Committee of Pakistan is to convene to make a final decision tonight, but reports suggest that fasting will begin on Thursday 11th July. Similarly The Wall Street Journal reports that monsoon clouds over Delhi’s Jama Masjid could delay the sighting of the moon, with a final decision to be announced later this evening.
