Melbourne’s annual Carols by Candlelight is held tonight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in the Botanic Gardens.

Hosted by Lisa Wilkinson and David Campbell, the show is a charity event with proceeds being donated to Vision Australia, a foundation offering blindness and low vision services.

Held since 1938, the event now attracts huge crowds and is a major fixture in the Melbourne Christmas Festival.

A live site will also be set up at Federation Square, so families can enjoy some pre-show entertainment before watching the carols on the big screen.

Carols by Candlelight will begin at 8pm. The Federation Square live site will come alive from 6pm with pre-show entertainment, and the main event will be telecast on the Nine Network from 8pm local time.
