Passu, Pakistan

Today I’d like to introduce to you one of my favourite places in the world. Passu is a tiny hamlet in the far north of Pakistan, across the Hunza River from a group of mountains known as the Cathedral Range.

Passu Cathedral Range

Standing in the village of Passu, where life carries on as in any other village, these jagged peaks are uncannily dramatic. It would be easy to say this is heaven on Earth, but there is something altogether otherworldly about this place.

Wow Tim, that is incredible. Reckon I could have stood there all day to take it in. I am not sure I have found my favourite place in the world yet, but there have been so many amazing memories of places that touched the very core of me. I think I am a bit of a wanderer, maybe I am lucky enough to have a whole many favourite places in the world. 🙂

Beautiful place, Tim. How long would you recommend me to stay there? 🙂

It’s amazing Agness – and it’s near China too!! You would only need a day to see the mountains and the glaciers… But I could easily spend a week there just watching life unfold ❤️

I didn’t know there was such a beautiful place in Pakistan. Passu looks so serene. My favorite place in the world is any place in Rajasthan.

How much time it takes by road from Islamabad and which is the nearest airport?
    Is it Gilgit or Skardu?

    Reply
    • Tim Blight

From Islamabad the road conditions are always changing – on average its about 14 hours from Islamabad to Gilgit, then another 3 to 4 hours to Passu. Gilgit is definitely the closest airport to Passu.
