The Delicatessen by Cosa Nostra
The Delicatessen in Lahore is a new concept in cafe-style eating in Pakistan’s cultural capital, established by the same people behind the successful Italian restaurant Cosa Nostra.
About a year old, and slotted into the side of the modern Mall One on Main Boulevard Gulberg, this upmarket place oozes European ambiance and is filled with tasty continental offerings served up in spick-and-span surroundings.
The day I visited, The Delicatessen was promoting its new rotisserie chicken in the lead up to winter. Served with your choice from a range of sides, including garlic mashed potato and mixed sautéed vegetables, and accompanied by garlic bread and gravy, the dish is sure to satisfy any European cravings you may have.
Sweet or savoury crepes are on the menu, as well as fresh salads, including the mouthwatering Chargrilled Sweet Potato, Red Onions, Feta and Pinenuts with a Sweet and Sour Balsamic Dressing.
There’s also cakes and pastries galore – check the display cabinet for the day’s range, but when we visited we had a choice of New York Cheesecake, Walnut Brownie, Red Velvet Cake and “Best Ever” Carrot Cake.
And the coffee is delicious too – cold varieties for summer, warm for winter, and the most spot-on espresso I’ve ever tasted in Pakistan!
