Shops in Melbourne and Sydney have opened early this morning for the annual Boxing Day sales.

Myer and David Jones across Melbourne and in the city centre of Sydney threw open their doors at 5am with crowds rushing in to snap up bargains.

Myer in Melbourne offered their most dedicated patrons a special Christmas breakfast, with the first 500 customers offered panettone, biscotti and coffee according to a report in the Herald Sun.

Meanwhile online shoppers have gotten in early, with the stocktake sales officially beginning on Christmas morning on the websites of most retailers.

Non-suburban stores in Sydney will be open tomorrow. Opening hours are listed on stores’ websites.
