The annual Royal Melbourne Show opens tomorrow at Melbourne Showgrounds, with its regular blend of family entertainment and agricultural displays.

Over the next twelve days, visitors will have the opportunity to sample some of Victoria’s finest produce at the Tastes of Victoria pavilion and the Woolworth Fresh Food pavilion. Meanwhile, participants will be shown what to do with the produce at any of the demonstration classes, or at the MasterChef Kitchen Tour.

A whole bunch of back-to-basics experiences will be offered in the Agricultural Discovery program, with visitors being given demonstrations on how to milk a cow, shear a sheep, or feed lots of baby animals at the Feeding Time exhibition. Animals and their breeders will also compete in the blue ribbon competitions, while the wood chop competitions are expected to draw in regular crowds.

Adrenaline-junkies should head straight to the Thrillseekers Carnival, where over 20 white-knuckle rides are offered. More sedate attractions can be found at the Family or Kids Carnivals. Showbags number over 380 this year, and range from the $2 Bertie Beetle bag to the premium Deli Pantry bag.

Where showbiz is concerned, Australia’s Got Talent and The X Factor will both offer live shows, and youngsters will be kept entertained by the Looney Tunes Live! performances. Magicians Adam and Selina will perform their  routine twice daily, as will the higher-octane Freestyle Moto-X Team. “America’s Best Clown” Bello Nock will appear three times daily, and the whole program will be capped off by the nightly fireworks extravaganza.

Further information, as well as tickets to the Royal Melbourne Show 2013 can be found at the show’s website.
