Acclaimed Pakistani singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to rock Sydney’s Convention Centre tonight, as part of his Rahat Reloaded tour.

Tickets have almost sold out for the event, which promises to be a memorable night of Sufi-infused tunes. Rahat Reloaded will visit Melbourne’s Hamer Hall tomorrow night.

Khan’s music is a mix of pop and rock, blended with Qawwali, a type of Islamic devotional music popular with Pakistani Sufis.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the nephew of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the world music legend who is considered by some to have possessed the greatest voice ever recorded. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan specialised in Qawwali and was often invited to contribute to movies such as The Last Temptation of Christ. Meanwhile his nephew has found mainstream success in the business of Bollywood, and he contributes soulful melodies to various Indian movies each year.

Tickets for the Sydney event can be booked through Dry Tickets, while the Melbourne event is ticketed through The Arts Centre.
