Sweet Affairs is one of Lahore’s better patisseries, with a decadent range of creamy iced cupcakes and cool coffees for a perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up. There’s also an authentic gelato bar which is utilised for some of the cafe’s frozen creations.

When we were there, we tasted the dangerously sweet caramel cupcake, topped with a velvety frosting. The best part was yet to come – inside the large cupcake lay a nugget of pure caramel – a very sweet surprise!

The coffee, the iced caramel coffee, was a whipped concoction of ice, milk, coffee and smooth caramel flavour, topped off with a scoop of vanilla gelato. The flavours and elements were perfectly balanced – just icy enough to make it cold, but enough milk to maintain the creaminess. Coffee and caramel were both handled with restraint too – the caramel was not so sweet as to drown out the espresso, as so often happens with such beverages.

The decor is simple yet effective – this is not (only) a dating spot, but a place to escape the pressures of life outside and take a delicious, sugary break from reality. Sweet Affairs also serves a wide range of cakes and slices, and can provide desserts for functions and events.

All in all, Sweet Affairs gets the thumbs up as a cute cafe conveniently located near Mini Market which strikes the perfect balance in both its tone and its products.
