In photos: Murals at the University of Punjab
A few years ago I shared a post on my favourite street art in Lahore. Back then, the University of Punjab had an open boundary on its southern end, where its paddocks crumbled off towards the housing developments beyond.
Some years ago a new linking road was built through the middle of the university’s open land; it was sorely needed to alleviate traffic jams. However what it also did was force the university to build a wall marking the boundary between the university’s land and the new thoroughfare. With the support of the university, students regularly come to paint murals along the walls. Some of the designs contain patriotic messages, some represent a call to social activism, some transcend art to suggest some kind of spiritual manifestation, and some are simply beautiful in their own captivating way.
Here are some of my favourite murals at the University of Punjab’s southern boundary wall in Lahore…
Some really great art there Tim!
It’s great, right?!
Spinning out with the Sufis — is Haunting … just like it’s melodies and saints. And I love Lahore— I love the city too, which I have only seen in my imagination… they are all beautiful and vibrant. Great idea to share them.
Thank you! They’re really beautiful – I admire them every time I drive past 🙂
Some great art work there. Glad they are not defaced as happens all too often.
True. People seem to respect true art!
I love the colors of “friendship goals”, the peace of “imagine if there were no walls”, and the beauty of “set her free”
Me too! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
These murals are so vivid! It’s hard to say which one is my favorite, but I definitely liked the white mural the most.
It’s one of my favourites too! Thanks for stopping by, Renuka 🙂
