Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new crescent moon for the month

The starting date of Ramadan has been announced as Wednesday 10th July in Australia.

Through the Islamic Council of Victoria, the Board of Imams of Victoria released a statement on Sunday afternoon confirming the corresponding Gregorian calendar date. Meanwhile authorities in Pakistan and India are expected to meet on Tuesday to confirm sighting of the new crescent moon.
